หลากหลายผู้คนที่ใช้ Windows XP มักจะทำการเปิด Automatic Updates เอาไว้ ตอนนี้ Microsoft ได้ทำการสร้างเครื่องมือในการตรวจจับ License ที่ Copy ต่อ ๆ กันมา มากับการ Update ของ Windows ไว้ ซึ่งมันจะคอยแจ้งเตือนเราตลอดเวลา ณ ตั้งแต่ที่เริ่มเปิดเครื่อง ภายใต้ชื่อที่ว่า Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications
ผลเสียที่ได้รับ
1. ทำให้เครื่องช้าลง เพราะต้อง Run Process การทำงานนี้ขึ้นมาอยู่ตลอด
2. เราไม่สามารถ Download โปรแกรม จาก Web Site ของ Microsoft ได้เลย
3. ไม่สามารถทำการ Update Windows ได้ โดยผ่านทาง Windows Update ( Start --> Windows Update )
