« Last post by admin on 23, 05, 2015, 10:18:45 »
Activate Windows Server 2012 Evaluation to Full Version

Step 1. The very first step is to view the current edition. So open Command Prompt or Windows PowerShell in elevated mode (Run as Administrator) and type, DISM /online /Get-CurrentEditon as shown below. As you can see the current edition is Datacenter Evaluation.

Step 2. You can also view to which target edition you can upgrade.  To view the possible upgrade path, type DISM /online /Get-TargetEditions on elevated command prompt as shown below. As you can see the possible upgrade option is, Datacenter edition.

Step 3. To upgrade type DISM /online /Set-Edition:ServerDatacenter /productkey:XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX /AcceptEula. X is your product key. As you can see below, it this command will upgrade the edition of Server to full version. Press Y to reboot.

You can now view the new Server edition by going into Server Manager.

Computer Problem / UCS C200 Series Power On After Power Failure
« Last post by admin on 14, 04, 2015, 07:35:48 »
We recently had a power cut in the office and our UCS C210 M2 server didn't automatically power back on.

Normally there's a setting in the BIOS along the lines of "After Power Failure: Power On". After trawling through every option in the BIOS I couldn't find anything relevant - it turns out the setting is actually in the CIMC.
To access the CIMC GUI you need to make sure it has been configured, you can reach the configuration settings for the CIMC when the server is powering via these steps:
Press ESC to view POST messages
Press F8 to enter CIMC config
Keep an eye out whilst the server powers on and press the keys at the appropriate times - it'll say on screen. You can then set an IP address, etc.
Once the server's powerd on, go to the CIMC IP address in a web browser, e.g. If you've not set a username and password the defaults are as follows:

Username: admin
Password: password

Select the Sever tab on the left hand side of the screen, then Power Policies and select the Power Restore Policy you want:

Click Save Changes and you're done.
